I'm a 20 year old junior in college, trying to promote a healthy life style for myself and others, which can definitely be hard to do in college. In this blog, I'll experiment with recipes, blog about my own progress towards body wellness inside-and-out, and hopefully help some of you out along the way! Last summer, with a month of exercise and eating right, I lost my freshman 15. Over the past year, I have been maintaining my weight and continuing to hone my healthy cooking skills!

Growing list of possible grocery foods to keep stocked in your dorm! By no means should you have everything on the list on hand at once. In fact, I don’t recommend it. Last year I pretty much did that, to no avail—things expired, I tried to eat them to get rid of them, just overall bad bad bad. SO experiment. Find what you like. Enjoy!

FRUITS AND VEGGIES:

  • Frozen Fruits
  • Spinach
  • Carrots
  • Salad Bar Veggies (Tip: They’re often “free” in the cafeteria…)

CARBS:

  • Light 100% Whole Wheat Bread
  • Plain Oatmeal
  • Sweet Potatoes/Baked Potatoes
  • Plain Air-Popped Popcorn
  • Bagel Thins
  • Corn Tortillas
  • Alternative Bagel
  • Rice Cakes
  • La Tortilla Factory Tortillas
  • Tofu Shirataki Noodles
  • VitaTops

PROTEINS: DAIRY

  • Almond milk
  • Greek Yogurt (Plain is best)
  • Low-Cal Yogurt (just watch the sugar count!)
  • Laughing Cow Light Cheese 
  • Baybel Light Cheese
  • Low Fat Shredded Mozerella
  • Low Fat String Cheese
  • Low Fat Cottage Cheese
  • Reduced Fat Feta Cheese
  • Reduced Fat Shredded Parmesan

PROTEINS: OTHER

  • Lean deli meats (I like Oscar Meyer “Deli fresh”)
  • Whey Protein Powder (plain or flavored!)
  • Peanut Butter (OR Better n’ Peanut Butter!) (or Peanut Wonder!)
  • Nuts (in moderation!) 
  • Flavored Almonds (in moderation!)
  • Egg Whites!
  • Boca Ground Crumbles
  • Protein Bars (In moderation. Know your nutrition facts!)
  • Perky Turkey Jerky

SIMPLE SNACK FOODS:

  • Air-Popped Plain Popcorn
  • Low Fat String Cheese
  • Flavored Almonds (in moderation!) BBQ!
  • Tofu Shirataki Noodles — this could be a “Carb” I guess…except for it barely has any! Good Ramen substitute.

SPREADS AND DIPS:

GUILT-FREE TREATS:

  • Sugar Free Jello
  • Cool Whip Lite
  • Arctic Zero
  • Sugar Free Gum

SPICE IT UP:

  •  Zero-Cal Sweeteners
  • Cinnamon
  • Mustard
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Your favorite herbs

DRINKS

  • Diet drinks/low-cal drinks
  • Sparkling Water … i.e. COCONUT LACROIX 
  • Diet Soda
  • WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE
  • Crystal Lite
  • Powerade Zero

Also good to have on-hand:

  • Cooking Spray
  • Sugar Free Gum.
